What
Readers Say About THE ADVENTURES OF MELON
AND TURNIP
It
is almost impossible to say enough good things
about this book! It is so colorful, and its
characters are so charmingly personified, that
any child would grab it off the shelf on eye
appeal alone. Anyone will ride joyously along
with these two friends, engrossed in their
adventure. Vibrant illustrations bring the
imaginative story so vividly to life. And
just when you think this delightful story is
over, the author and the illustrator give us
even more to think about. Four valuable extra
pages show readers the process of creating
the book while encouraging budding young authors
and artists. Even
though I’m familiar with Trisha Howell’s
talents, I was still blown away by this offering.
She and Paul Lopez have outdone themselves! I
highly recommend The Adventures of Melon and
Turnip for children everywhere.—Ruth
Wilson, Huntress Reviews
As
a parent, I hope this book becomes mandatory
in every classroom relevant to the age group
that it serves. We often hear the expression, "children
can be so cruel," and is there really
a tougher life than the earliest years at school,
where children haven't yet mastered the generosity
of spirit or the subtlety of life? If
only for a moment, this thought-provoking and
moral story may just spark a sense of humanity
in a child that discriminates. So as
a parent, I cannot do anything else other than
give this book my full approval and recommendation,
not just for its moral and responsibility values,
but also because it engaged my own children
long past the final page. This is definitely
a book that will easily fit into any child's
favorite collection!—Elizabeth Batt, Elizabeth

delightful characters full of spunk. Howell's
book is fun and has a positive message—what
more could a parent and educator ask for?—Jennifer

The
Adventures of Melon and Turnip is a delectable
story about friendship, acceptance and respect. Included
are enjoyable imagery, whimsical poetry and
bright distinct colors keeping the reader (even
an adult one) entertained! Ms. Howell
bestows a superb treat on the reader. She
includes in her book a basic “how to” about
writing and illustrating a children’s
book, enticing children to try their own hand
at creativity. This is the second children’s
book I have reviewed for this author and her
sheer exuberance captivates me. She once
again delivers fun and enchanting characters
experiencing highly educational lessons about
life.—Sherry Russell, Midwest Book

This cute little book of two
vegetables' adventure through the woods allows us
a glimpse into the value of caring for others and
their feelings, using the inhabitants of the forest
